Frequently Asked Questions
How do I play?
Number tiles (2, 4, 8, …) fall from the top onto the grid. Swipe left/right or tap a column button to choose a column, then tap the grid or swipe down to drop. When same-value tiles end up next to each other they merge into a doubled value. Chains multiply the score. The game ends when any column fills to the ceiling. Each run takes 1–3 minutes.
How does Hold work?
Tap the Hold slot in the top-left to stash the current tile when you don't want to drop it yet — the next preview tile (NEXT[0]) drops in its place. Hold can be used once per drop. If a tile is already stored in Hold, tapping again swaps the two.
What are Wild jewels (the rainbow tiles)?
When the "Wild every 10" rule is enabled, every 10th, 20th, 30th... tile minted is a Wild jewel (a rainbow diamond). A Wild merges with any adjacent non-Wild tile, taking the neighbor's value and doubling it. If multiple non-Wild neighbors exist, the Wild absorbs the highest-value one. Two Wilds never merge with each other.
What can I customize with rules?
Combine the toggles below to build your own challenge:
- Columns: 4 to 7. Four columns is hardcore, seven gives breathing room.
- Timer: Time-attack mode. Chains add seconds back to the clock.
- Game-over off: Practice mode — never lose.
- No twos: Minimum spawn value becomes 4, ramping up early-game difficulty.
- Preview count: 0 (blind) / 2 / 3.
- Wild every 10: Every 10th tile is a Wild jewel.
- Reverse gravity: Tiles stack toward the top instead of the bottom.
- Forced 2 every 15: Every 15th drop, an extra 2 is forced into the board.
- Disable danger bonus: Turn off the 2x multiplier in the top zone.
- No auto-clear: Disable the helper that removes the lowest tile when you make a 1024+.
- Initial tiles: Pre-seed the board with random tiles. Optionally make the first two of them Wild.
What is the danger zone?
The top two rows of the board (or bottom two when reverse gravity is on). While any tile sits in this zone, every merge earns a 2x score multiplier — but if a column fills to the edge the run ends. Risk and reward in one zone. The "Disable danger bonus" rule removes the multiplier.
What happens when I make a 1024?
Any merge that produces 1024 or higher automatically clears the lowest-value tile from the tallest column. The freshly merged tile is excluded, so your 1024 always survives. The "No auto-clear" rule turns off this safety net for an extra challenge.
What is seed replay?
Every run is saved with the random seed it used. From the history screen you can replay an old run with the exact same tile sequence — useful for pure-skill comparison against your former self.
Why do I see two dialogs the first time I open the app?
The first is the EU / UK GDPR consent form (shown only in those regions). The second is iOS App Tracking Transparency. The app works fully whether or not you grant permission. Granting allows ads tailored to your interests, which helps keep the app free for everyone. See the Privacy Policy for details.
How do I change ad personalization later?
Open iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking to toggle this app's tracking permission. EEA / UK GDPR consent can be re-presented from the in-app settings screen (in a future update).
How do I share my result?
From the Game Over sheet, tap "Share result." The share sheet receives a Wordle-style emoji grid of your final board, ready to post on X, LINE, Messages, or anywhere else.
How do I change the language?
From the home screen, open the gear icon in the top-right and choose Language. The app supports 15 languages.
Pricing
DropMerge is free (ad-supported). The app shows a persistent banner ad, an optional rewarded video on Game Over (watch to clear three tiles and continue), and occasional full-screen interstitials. There are no in-app purchases or paid unlocks.
